Summer is over.
The last summer didn't actually last very long.
In this city, summer comes very early and lasts a long time.
Few people like summer, at least here, where most people just endure the scorching heat with air conditioning and palm-leaf fans.
Spring has its flowers, autumn its moon, and winter has the falling snow that paints the city of Suzhou in silver—all are beautiful.
But I, for one, like summer the best.
Since I was very young, I have loved the slow, leisurely feeling of sunlight spilling over me. Back then, we had a dog at home. When no one else was around, it would follow me up to the roof, and I would rest my head on it, and we would sunbathe together.
In my ears, there was the purring sound of its breathing, mixed with the cicadas and the birds.
That's not all; what I am most obsessed with in summer is cola, watermelon, ice cream, and various cold drinks.
So, for me, the sign of summer's arrival isn't a sudden rise in temperature or the Summer Solstice. When I start craving mangoes, strawberries, frozen watermelon, and picking up a bottle of cola on my way home, I know my summer has arrived.
In the time between last summer and this summer, I met a girl who wouldn't let me drink cola.
She insists that drinking cola all the time is unhealthy. Actually, I could come up with many arguments to prove that she's wrong.
But seeing her earnest expression as she counted on her fingers, lecturing me about the things she was dissatisfied with, I agreed to her terms. I've somewhat forgotten whether I told her she was cute back then,
but thinking about it now, I still want to tell her so. It's just that the "no drinking" I initially agreed to turned into once a month, then once a week...
Fortunately, cola doesn't ask me questions like "Do you want her or me?"
Oh, right, I've strayed so far that I almost forgot this is actually an advertisement.
Thank you for still following Yin Xia during the summer.
If you're hot, have some tea.
Please, have a seat.
